The message of Acts 12 is simple: God delivers. In the same way that King Herod sought to arrest the movement of the early Church through the deaths of James and Peter, we find that the enemy’s goal today hasn’t changed. Even so, the truth remains that God delivers. Just as He miraculously delivers Peter from imprisonment and execution, He continues to deliver men and women from bondage today. Through the story of Acts 12, we see that God’s deliverance includes constant prayer, trusting His promises, expecting the unexpected, relying on His Spirit, and counting on His compassion. We get to follow the instructions of Peter to go tell about this great deliverance we’ve experienced.
