Paul, the guy who is normally so great at navigating problems, has a “sharp disagreement” with Barnabas at the end of Acts 15. This disagreement was so sharp, these two missionaries end up parting ways. This week, as we look into what caused such a problem for Paul and Barnabas, we must ask ourselves: What causes problems in my life? The book of James tells us that the secret to avoiding such problems is humility. As Paul continued in his ministry, he would continue to learn the secret of humility and impart to churches the wisdom found in Colossians 3, to “put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering, bearing with one another, and forgiving one another…” Problems are God’s “Pop Quiz” to show us just how far we’ve got to go until we love like Jesus. So let’s put on love, even in the face of problems.
